Meet The Owner

Mirissa Jackson is the creator and primary clinician for Relief with Rissa, LLC. Mrs. Jackson resides in Tokyo, Japan, but no worries, you will not know the difference. Mrs. Jackson is from Chicago, Illinois, where she obtained her bachelors at Western Illinois University and her masters at the University of Illinois  Urbana Champaign in Social Work with an emphasis on clinical mental health.

Mrs. Jackson has seven years of experience as a mental health professional and five years as a clinical therapist. Mrs. Jackson specializes in African American women that have suffered traumatic experiences. Mrs. Jackson is a Certified Trauma Specialist and is certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy.  Mrs. Jackson is a Brainspotting provider and utilizes the intervention to help process unresolved PTSD in her individuals.

 Mrs. Jackson is eager to engage minorities in the process of healing institutional, generational, workplace and systematic trauma. In session with Mrs. Jackson, she is focused on her clients getting “unstuck” by traumatic events that have made them feel stagnant in their growth and potential. Mrs. Jackson wants her clients to recognize that there is a better way of living that does not include constantly suffering internally or externally. Mrs. Jackson relieves clients of feeling like their on “pilot” and allows them to experience relief by mastering a “quiet brain”, “adequate sleep”, “healthy interpersonal relationship”, “daily meditation,” “healthy eating” , “balance in their day to day life” and a sense  of safety and control over themselves. There is life on the other side of traumatic experiences. Together both of you will develop a realistic plan for change that will ascend you in your mental health journey.

Mrs. Jackson's experience ranges from a variety of settings including the following: substance use rehabilitation facilities, children’s residential centers, jails, and military base installations. Mrs. Jacksons is equipped to treat depression, anxiety, bipolar, and PTSD.

Mrs. Jackson’s interventions utilized include specific treatment modalities such as, but are not limited to Trauma Informed Care, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Seeking Safety Approach, Strengths-Based Approach, and Brainspotting.

Mrs. Jackson’s approach to therapy is simple; She is committed to the mental health, emotional well-being, and general wellness of her clients. This understanding coupled with her formal training, knowledge and life experience gives her the unique ability to meet you where you are on your mental health journey and help navigate you toward your desired goals.

Aside from therapy, Mrs. Jackson is an avid world traveler who enjoys connecting with new people and learning about different cultures. Mrs. Jackson in her free time loves to read and volunteer.

Practice With Purpose

The purpose of Relief with Rissa, LLC is to aid in the worldwide crisis of the lack of African American women providers. Relief with Rissa, LLC will like to bridge the significant gap and offer quality therapy to African American women who have suffered from trauma or other mental health disorders. Relief with Rissa, LLC is able to work with individuals that have been battling with depression, PTSD, anxiety, and bipolar. Relief with Rissa, LLC knows that a person can not win every battle, but ensures that a client can win the war over their mental health. 

 Moving on a Mission

Our mission with Relief with Rissa, LLC is to help African American women who have been stuck in bondage and paralyze by their trauma mentally. It is important that clients are able to see what the other side of healing looks like, where they are able to experience an array of feelings and emotions. Relief with Rissa, LLC will like her clients to be able to interact within their environment without feeling constant stress by reminders of their trauma, which leads them to avoidance, isolation, and the development of other disorders such as, but not limited to depression and anxiety.
